GGHA NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual Meeting of the members of Guelph Girls Hockey Association (the "Corporation") will be held at the Italian Canadian Club on June 12, 2008 at 7:00 pm for the purpose of:

  • Considering and, if thought fit, passing a motion to amend the current by laws of the Corporation to add a new position of Director, Player and Coach Development;
  • Receiving and considering the financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2008 and the report of the auditors thereon;
  • Electing directors;
  • Appointing auditors for the forthcoming year; and
  • Transacting such further and other business as may properly come before the meeting.

Board of Directors Elections

In accordance with the By Laws, the Nomination Committee hereby proposes the following slate of candidates for the following offices each for a term of two (2) years:

  • Director/President: Paula Taylor
  • Director/Rep Convenor: Diane Squires
  • Director/Ice Scheduling: Nadia Mora
  • Director/ Registration: Kelvin Tashiro
  • Director/ Special Events and Fundraising: Christa MacDonald
  • Director at Large: Dan Plante
  • Director/House League Convenor: Judy Dezell
  • Director/Player & Coach Development (new position): Tony Traversa

In accordance with the by laws, any other candidates for the above noted positions may submit their nominations prescribed Nomination Form which will be received up until fourteen (14) days prior to the Annual Meeting. The Nomination Form is available here on the website and may be downloaded, completed, and then emailed to the Nomination Committee, care of rep@ggha.com at any time prior to May 29, 2008. If, as a result of nominations in accordance with the above, there is more than one candidate, each candidate running for such position will be offered an opportunity to post a short statement (150 words or less) on the website prior to the June 12th Annual General Meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENT

The Guelph Girls Hockey Association and the Cambridge Roadrunners Girls Hockey Association are pleased to announce an agreement in principle between the two organizations for increased co-operation of the organization and management of the Intermediate level teams. The Cambridge Roadrunners presently hosts both an Intermediate A level team and the Cambridge Fury Intermediate AA team. The two Boards of Directors of Cambridge Roadrunners GHA and Guelph Thunder GHA have agreed on a plan to proceed with an increased level of co-operation between the two centres and look forward to supporting and increasing support for Intermediate level hockey in both our communities.

The Cambridge Roadrunners Intermediate A team will be holding tryouts April 28-29 - please visit their website for more details. Guelph girls are encouraged to attend, but require a "Permission to Skate" form - please contact Rep Convenor Diane Squires to obtain one.

The Doug Jackson Memorial Trophy is awarded to the House League and Rep coaches who have made an outstanding contribution to Guelph girls hockey during the past season.

Please forward your nominee for the 2007/08 season to Michelle's attention at sponsorship@ggha.com by May 15. One email per player please.

The recipients of this year's Doug Jackson Memorial Trophy will be announced at the GGHA Annual General Meeting on June 12 at the Italian Canadian Club.

2007-08 KARYN SPIRA AWARD WINNER - KATELYN BUISMAN

The Karyn Spira Award is given each year to the Senior House League player who best demonstrates the qualities of determination, dedication, sportsmanship, leadership, and fair play. This year's recipient was Katelyn Buisman! The presentation was made at the GGHA's House League Championship Day on April 6 by Karyn's mother, Carol Spira.
